korri-footed-plate
Korri - Footed Plate

Korri is a solid wood footed plate worked from a single piece. The outline is rounded and slightly rectangular; the centre is hollowed into a shallow recess whose rims are drawn upwards and flow back into the body without a break. At the four corners, short feet curve outwards and downwards from the same block, so plate and feet are one continuous form rather than parts joined together: no seam, no visible edge, every transition rounded.

Those few centimetres of height are the point of the piece. Most of the 4.5 cm comes from the lift rather than from depth, since the recess itself stays flat, and the gap left underneath reads as a thin line of shadow that sets the plate apart from the cloth. A small portion is raised clear of the table and meets the eye a little earlier than it would on a flat plate, so it holds its place among full-size pieces. The shallow recess keeps an oil or a few drops of vinaigrette from running off, without the depth of a bowl.

The surface is finished with food-grade mineral oil, a treatment that leaves the grain open and gives a low, matt sheen rather than a lacquered one; because each piece is worked from its own block, the grain and the depth of colour fall differently on every one. The feet also give the hands something to hold: gripped along the long sides, below the rim and between front and back foot, the plate can be lifted and set down without a thumb reaching into the recess. The scale suits an amuse-bouche, a first course of a few bites, a side portion, bread, petits fours or a single cheese.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0780/8565/2827/files/hf_20260917_102933_8eb4c80d-b5b6-41e6-93d2-a210892fb9e7.png?v=1789683334
