Totem is a low oak serving stand, worked from solid wood: a round disc of 15 cm diameter on a conical foot that narrows towards the table. The outer edge of the disc is bevelled, so the profile steps back as it rises and the piece reads lighter than its diameter suggests. A circular recess in the top holds a white glass plate of 12 cm with a matte surface, and the oak stays visible around it as a narrow ring.

The glass is an insert and lifts out of its recess. It absorbs no moisture and takes on neither colour nor smell, so a tartare, a mousse or a marinated element can sit directly on the surface while the oiled wood beneath stays dry. The matte finish removes the hard reflections of polished glass, and the white ground leaves the colour to the food. Because the plate comes out, the two materials are cleaned separately and the wood can be re-oiled without working around the glass.

At 15 cm across and 7 cm high, the pedestal carries one element rather than a course: an amuse-bouche at the opening of a menu, a praline or petit four, a single cheese with what belongs beside it, one part of a composed dessert. The height is what separates it from a flat plate. The serving is lifted clear of the line of glasses and cutlery, it is read from across the table, and at the pass there is room to work around the rim. The oak is polished very fine and treated with food-grade mineral oil for contact with food; grain and depth of colour differ from one piece to the next.

Care

• Hand wash only, in warm water with a mild soap, and dry immediately. Do not soak and do not place in the dishwasher.
• Not suitable for microwave or oven.
• Avoid sudden changes in temperature: let a chilled piece come to room temperature before it meets heat.
• Refresh the wood every few weeks with food-grade mineral oil to keep the grain nourished and water-resistant, and store it away from direct heat and sunlight.

Shipping

Every order is processed within 2–7 business days of payment and shipped worldwide with a tracked service. We send you the tracking number as soon as the parcel is dispatched. Some pieces are made to order; if a longer production time of 1–4 months applies, we tell you before dispatch.

Once dispatched, delivery takes 1–12 business days depending on the destination. Should tracking not arrive within 8 business days of dispatch, or the parcel not arrive within 19 business days of ordering, write to support@tableglow.it.

Remote areas, islands and express requests may carry an additional charge, which we ask you to approve before dispatch; if you prefer not to pay it, you can cancel the order free of charge. For deliveries outside the European Union, import duties, local taxes and customs fees are not included and are paid by the recipient.

Returns

Consumers may return a piece within 15 days of delivery without giving a reason. Write to support@tableglow.it to start the return, then send the piece back within 14 days, unused and undamaged and securely packed, ideally in its original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer, except for defective pieces and sample orders within Europe, for which we send a prepaid label. Outside Europe no prepaid label is available.

The refund goes to the original payment method within 14 days of the returned piece arriving and being inspected. Express shipping fees are not refunded. If a piece shows signs of use beyond what is needed to examine it, we may reduce the refund by the resulting loss in value. Please pack returns securely: damage in return transit caused by insufficient packaging is not refunded. Pieces made to your own specification or personalised for you, and orders placed by businesses, are excluded from the right of withdrawal.

Exchange

Prefer a different size or colour? Return the unused piece under the conditions above and place a new order for the piece you would like; the returned piece is refunded once it has arrived and been inspected. Write to support@tableglow.it if you would like help choosing.

Damaged in transit

Please check your parcel on arrival. Should a piece arrive broken, keep the packaging, photograph the piece and the box, and write to support@tableglow.it as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours, so we can document the damage with the carrier. We replace or refund it at no cost to you. Your statutory rights, including the two-year EU legal guarantee of conformity, remain unaffected. Business customers: please report visible defects within 8 days of delivery.
